Hello and welcome to this preview of the construction system found in Metroland!

An important part of the game is the construction of houses alongside transport routes. The player must transport construction materials and equipment to the site of construction.
Additionally, construction workers need to be transported to these locations as well making them the first users of your transport routes. A future post will show more about workers and passenger transportation as these are still being worked on.
Currently, different phases of construction have been implemented for the middle-class residential buildings. These show the supply of materials available on the site and will change as construction progresses.
Construction materials are purchased from outside of the map and are delivered to rail yards of other railway companies. These yards can be accessed by the player for the purpose of transferring freight between rail networks of different companies.
Railways in the early 1900s were made up of many competing companies with wagons needing to travel across many rival firms. The wagons and even the engines themselves were loaned out by other companies to service the Metropolitan Railway.
Even electricity was potentially produced by rival railway companies as was the case of the Metropolitan Railway and the District Railway. The Met did not wish to depend on electricity produced by its rival over fears that this could be used against it. Halting power would be catastrophic to operations. This is an aspect I would like to explore in Metroland with your support.

Here is an interesting historical video on the inefficiencies of the railways during this time.
Thanks always for your support!
